Thailand, located near the equator, benefits from long hours of sunlight and abundant solar resources. Statistical data indicates that the central plains of Thailand enjoy high sunlight hours, averaging 7-8 hours per day. This creates excellent conditions for solar power generation. For instance, the capital city, Bangkok, has an average annual temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and receives over 1,800 hours of sunlight per year. The central and northeastern regions exceed 1,850 hours annually.

Thailand’s consistent sunlight, with an annual radiation of approximately 1800 kW·h/m² and over half of the country’s areas receiving daily radiation between 5.00-5.28 kW·h/m², makes the market highly receptive to photovoltaic and energy storage solutions.

By the end of 2022, Thailand’s total installed photovoltaic capacity reached 4.05 GW, with an additional 0.58 GW added in 2022, representing a 16.7% year-on-year increase. This growth is largely attributed to government support for renewable energy, including favorable power purchase agreements, tax incentives, and clean energy development funds. Moreover, according to the Thai Ministry of Energy, the country’s photovoltaic capacity is expected to reach 35 GW by 2030.
